Tanakpur is a city and a municipal board, near Champawat town in Champawat district of Uttarakhand state of India. Located in the foothills of the Kumaon Himalayas in the northern part of India. The town is the gateway for Purnagiri Temple as well as the 'Gateway to the Kumaon Himalayas'.
